How we can help

We are happy to offer help, therapy or advice for difficulties such as:

  • Anxiety, worry, panic attacks, phobias and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Depression, sadness and low mood
  • Low self-esteem and lack of confidence
  • Anger management and other interpersonal emotional difficulties
  • Behavioural difficulties
  • Developmental concerns
  • Concerns linked to Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Asperger's Syndrome and Autism
  • Issues in early childhood - for example sleep, fussy eating or temper tantrums in preschool children
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Difficulties with friendships and other relationships
  • Attachment difficulties
  • The impact of physical disability
  • Sibling rivalry and other relationship difficulties

The support we offer for these difficulties are likely to be based upon Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Attachment Therapy or draw upon other well recognised and evidenced theories.

We also offer Cognitive assessments. This is a comprehensive assessment that will evaluate IQ (intellectual ability) and specific strengths and weaknesses. This can help to determine if your child is gifted or needs additional support. If you are concerned about specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia then we would generally recommend you contact an Educational Psychologist as they have the additional assessments your child might need. If you are concerned that your child might have dyspraxia then we would suggest you contact an Occupational Therapist to assist you.

We are not able to offer diagnostic assessments for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or Autism (also sometimes called Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) , Asperger's Syndrome or Autistic Spectrum Continuum (ASC)). These need to be multi-disciplinary in nature to meet NICE guidelines. If you are searching for one of these assessments, we are happy to let you know of local providers we are aware of who can offer this assessment.

Sometimes young people require a more intensive, or crisis, service than can be offered in private practice. Should that be the case, we would help facilitate your referral to such a service.
