What happens if we come to see you

The first time you come to meet us you might feel a bit worried. That’s really normal as it is hard to meet a new person for the first time. We will try to help you feel comfortable as quickly as possible and may start by asking the grown ups accompanying you questions to start with so that you have a bit of time to get used to it all.

We allow up to 90 minutes for the first appointment. It sounds like a long time, but it usually passes quite quickly. We will probably ask you information about yourself such as your date of birth and then ask a bit about what is difficult. We will probably also ask you who is in the family and about your experiences growing up. At the end of the meeting, we will aim to give you some feedback about what we think would be helpful to your child and some of the practicalities around how that might work.

We all use rooms in different clinics so each room looks a bit different. You can look at the pictures below for more specific information depending on who you are going to meet.
